Indian sandstone patio restored — East Kilbride

The problem

• • Total algae and moss coverage — original buff colour invisible.
• • Slippery in wet weather, becoming a fall risk for elderly owner.
• • Heavy moss bedded into the pointing joints between slabs.
• • Owner expected the stone to be permanently darkened.

Our approach

1. 1. Tested a small area first — confirmed original buff colour was still there underneath.
2. 2. Pre-treated with biocide to kill the moss roots in the pointing.
3. 3. Cleaned with a 16" rotary surface cleaner at 150 bar — pressure tuned down for natural stone.
4. 4. Hand-detailed the edges and steps with a turbo nozzle.
5. 5. Sealed with a breathable impregnating sealer for 12+ months of weather and algae resistance.

The outcome

• Original buff colour fully restored — owner genuinely surprised.
• Slip hazard eliminated for the winter ahead.
• Sealer means owner can rinse it down each spring instead of needing another full clean.
